Bizon announced the prototype of the famous tractor-theatre

Bizon Company defined a tractor which was a prototype for the famous building of Rostov Gorky Academic Drama Theatre. Researches confirmed that the prototype of this masterwork of world constructivism was Stalinist-60 tractor.

The first Stalinist was set up at Chelyabinsk plant on the 15th of February 1931. The base for it was Caterpillar-60 tractor which had been supplied to Soviet Union since middle of 1920s. Before its serial production which started on the 1st of June in 1933, Stalinist tractor was widely propagandized as a breakthrough in national engineering area.

— “Creators of the Rostov theatre building were academic V. Schuko and professor V.Gelfreih. They could use as a prototype only Caterpillar-60 or Stalinist-60 tractor which are basically the same” — Sergey Sukhovenko is sure. — “in the beginning of 1930s there were no any other track type tractors in our country if not to take into account Kommunar tractor made in 1924 and not so popular in agriculture.

Since Stalinist-60 appeared massive agriculture mechanization became able. By the 31st of March 1937 69108 machines rolled off the production line of Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTP).

Like tractor-giant an architectural figure of the Rostov opera and drama theatre was called to rise above wide steppes of Don Region. The skyline repeats Stalinist’s form. It eternalized revolutionary romantic idea of linkage the city and the village and the age of industrial development.

— “We are finishing rehabilitation of the one of Chelyabinsk tractors in our agricultural museum” — said Sergey Sukhovenko. — “The machine has a unique fate. It worked during first five-year plan period, carried artillery equipment, helped to reclaim agriculture during post war years. We wish to present Stalinist-60 by the 260-year anniversary of Rostov city and by the 75-year anniversary of the Rostov Gorky Academic Drama Theatre foundation.“
