Bizon will see the effectiveness of including chick-pea and flax in a crop rotation

In 2010 the Bizon company will see the effectiveness of using chick-pea and flax in cereal crop rotation in its own experimental farms. At the agricultural enterprises the experimental lands for non typical crops for our region are placed with total area of 100 hectares.

Turning into the new kind of crops for the Rostov region we would like to find the alternative for using the fallow lands and the sunflower in a crop rotation, — told Aleksandr Garmashev, the leading agrotechnologist of the Bizon company. — Chick-pea and flax can become good predecessors for cereal crops and concentrate the soil with nutrients. Moreover, their harvest have a good market cost.

Chick-pea is characterized among all cereal and bean crops by the biggest nutritious value, plenty of vitamins and other biologically important substances. It is used in food and feeding purposes. After the chick-pea harvest it is left over 50 kg of nitrogen for each hectare.

Flax also differs from its traditional predecessor — sunflower. Drought resistance and stably good harvests promise its high productional profitability.

Among the Bizon’s agrotechnologists forecast this replacement of fallows and sunflower increase the productivity of cereal crop rotation and permit to use farmlands with maximum effectiveness.

The Bizon company started to realize the project in 2007. The aim of the experimental grounds is to test new agrotechnologies and technics in existing climatic conditions of the south of country. In 2008 OJSC named after Dzerzhinsky joined «Krasnokutskoe» and «Zarya Dona» farms, the area of Bizon’s farmlands increased from 12000 to 18000 hectares. There were 53 models of technics tested from 16 home and foreign manufacturers. The Bizon company shaed its experience with representatives of more than 1000 farms.
